A major component in proving competence is undertaking suitable training. This can take a number of different forms, the most effective being specific on the job training relating to exactly what you do. However this can sometimes to be hard to quantify with job roles evolving all the time. It is therefore more likely that the training you undertake will be of a more general nature covering not only the water systems in your property but those in other buildings. This will give you a better understanding of the risk factors so that should your systems change in the future you will understand the knock on effects.

Here at Legionella Compliance Consultancy Ltd we offer three different types of training: -

General awareness of legionella risks - perfect for those who need to have an awareness of the risks but are not heavily involved in delivering the control measures required. This might suit someone being asked to carry out weekly flushing of little used outlets or to give a better understanding of the work a sub-contractor does when they come on site to carry out the control measures. Typically this is a 6 hour course covering: -

- The background to what the bacteria is, how it lives and what factors it favours to allow it to multiply.
- An overview of the legislation currently in place.
- A brief description of the types of water system designs currently favoured along with known issues.
- Case Studies of previous outbreaks and the reasons found behind these.
- Breakdown of the control measures and where these should be implemented.
- How records can be kept, advantages of electronic vs paper and vice versa.
- Auditing of site works and records, why and how.

The course ends with a test to ensure that you have learned and understood the contents of the course.
